"It should be banned": since Irreversible, no film had shocked Cannes so much #mediago #mediago24 #movielovers #moviegoers #movieworld #moviecomers
In 2021, Julia Ducournau's "Titane" caused a sensation on the Croisette. A look back at the very turbulent Cannes reception for this shocking film which won a few days later... the Palme d'or!
At the Cannes Film Festival, there are often shock films, works that shake the spectators, that create controversy, in short, that leave no one indifferent. There's been Irréversible , The Brown Bunny , Mektoub My Love: Intermezzo , and most recently, Titane .
To say that Titane shocked during its Cannes presentation in May 2021 is an understatement. Because the extreme feature film by Julia Ducournau literally shook the spectators present, as evidenced by our eventful release of the cinemas of the film to be found in our player above. Between horrified spectators and others who loved it, with the added bonus of the intervention of the firefighters, the moment was definitely special!
If Titane shook the Croisette as rarely, that did not prevent the jury chaired by Spike Lee from awarding him the prestigious Palme d'Or. Two years later, its main actor Agathe Rouselle is back in Cannes to present the short film Stranger at Critics' Week. In a much less hectic atmosphere.
